Whenever you serve the Lord, you become a target. You expect to be targeted by the devil, but what about fellow believers? The barbs of misunderstanding and criticism come unexpectedly and hurt deeply. That is where we find Peter in Acts chapter 11.
In Acts 10, Peter followed the direct leading of the Lord and preached the gospel to the Gentiles. Upon returning to Jerusalem, rather than receiving the red carpet treatment, he was called in on the carpet!
Peter had seen salvation clearly by the three-fold vision in Acts 10:1-23. He shares salvation clearly in Acts 10:24-48. Now, he was called upon to state salvation clearly to these Jewish believers in Acts 11:1-18.
The Jewish believers accused Peter harshly, vv. 1-3.
Peter answered the Jewish believers softly, vv. 4-17.
The Jewish believers accepted Gentiles humbly, v. 18.
Remember: “It doesn’t take much size to criticize.”
