Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He issued orders to His apostles to carry on the mission He began. These orders are called the Great Commission and are recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. There is only one command in verses 19-20 — “make disciples.” The going, baptizing, and teaching are all modifiers of the one verb, “make disciples.” Jesus is not content with us to make decisions. He commands us to make disciples. In Acts 9 we are tracing the radical transformation of Saul of Tarsus. The discipleship process was carried out in a series of three meetings. Last week we saw how Saul met Jesus the Savior. Today we discover two other meetings that contributed to Saul’s transformation.
1. Saul met Ananias the follower, vv. 10-19.
Three practical lessons are derived from this encounter:
A lesson about God’s workers.
A lesson about God’s will.
A lesson about God’s work.
2. Saul met Barnabas the encourager, vv. 20-31.
Where are you in the discipleship process? Are you discipling or being discipled?
