Jesus Christ is both the great Unifier and Divider of humanity. For those who know Him as Lord and Savior, He is the great Unifier. The immediate kinship and connection with other Christians (even with people of other countries and cultures) testify to this truth. However, for those who don’t believe, Jesus is the great Divider. Don’t take my word for it though. Listen to Him in Luke 12:51-53.
It is safe, and even politically correct, to talk about your faith, religion, or even your church. When you bring Jesus into the conversation, however, sparks fly! Again, listen to Him in John 15:18-20. “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.” In Acts chapter four, this promise that Jesus made is fulfilled. The believers encounter their first opposition, and it won’t be the last.
When opposition comes, believers must courageously proclaim, vv. 1-22.
When opposition comes, believers must confidently pray, vv. 23-31.
When you proclaim Jesus, one of two results will generally occur. People will change or persecution will come.
