Last week we heard Jesus bid His disciples farewell. In doing so, He sent them out as ones convinced of His resurrection. He also promised them the control of the Holy Spirit, and He challenged them with His return. With this message, means, and motivation you would think that Jesus would immediately say, “Now go!” But He did just the opposite. He said, “Wait” (v. 4).
There are benefits received while waiting on God that cannot be had any other way. Time spent waiting on God is never time wasted. In today’s passage, there are two beneficial results of being in God’s waiting room.
- While waiting be praying, vv. 12-14.
- While waiting be preparing, vv 15-26.
Waiting does NOT mean twiddling your thumbs. Time spent waiting on God is never time wasted.
