The Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths began a six-month period of conflict in Jesus’ life that ended in the crucifixion. During this time the controversy surrounding Jesus hardened into conflict (John chapters 5-6). This is seen in the three rounds of conflict recorded in chapter seven. The responses to Jesus ran the gamut of belief, to doubt, to outright rejection. Round 3 was no different.
1. The Savior’s great invitation, vv. 37-39.
Water for the thirsty (7:37)
Food for the hungry (6:35)
Rest for the weary (Mt. 11:28-30)
2. The crowd’s divided opinion, vv. 40-46.
3. The leader’s hardened rejection, vv. 47-52.
Where do you stand when it comes to Jesus?
Do you believe? Are you undecided? Or, have you rejected Him?
