"To receive pardon from the King is a great thing; to be made His son or daughter is even greater."
Probably the highest privilege of the Christian life is adoption. Yet, it is probably not understood or appreciated nearly enough. As we are considering fostering/adopting children in need, let's examine God's adopting needy sinners. This truth is one of the main ministries of the Holy Spirit to such a degree that He is called the Spirit of adoption.
This Sunday we host a live questionnaire panel featuring a wide number of families within our church who have experienced fostering, adoption, etc.
In Romans 8:14-17 there are three results of the Holy Spirit's ministry as the Spirit of adoption:
1. Adoption is the basis for prayer, vv. 14-15
2. Adoption is the basis of security, v. 16
3. Adoption is the basis of inheritance, v. 17
Scripture:
Romans 8:14-17
Matthew 7:9-11
Romans 8:1
Romans 8:38-39
1 Peter 1:3-4
Access in prayer, assurance of salvation, acquiring of inheritance-all this and more are the results of our adoption!
