We all know what it is like to be hungry. From the moment of birth, we have wanted to eat. Probably in your home, there is not a day that goes by when someone doesn’t say, “I’m so hungry!” If you are the parent of a teen, that probably happens several times a day. God created our bodies to run on food, and hunger is the warning system telling us that we are running low on fuel.
We are also spiritually hungry. There is a growling in the soul that indicates an emptiness inside. We were made to run on some sort of fuel, but we are not sure where to find it.
In the aftermath of the feeding of the multitude (6:1-14), Jesus made an analogy between physical hunger and spiritual hunger. He described two very different types of people seeking to satisfy the spiritual hunger in their souls.
• Those who are selfish seekers, vv. 26-34.
• Those who are sincere seekers, vv. 35-40.
Are you seeking after Jesus selfishly or sincerely?
