Since we are about to begin a new Church-Wide Study in a week, I thought I'd review what we learned last year from the Treasure Principle.
The Treasure Principle: You can't take it with you, but you can send it on ahead. Jesus said, "Store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven." Matthew 6:20
The Six Treasure Principle Keys:
-
God owns everything; I’m His money manager. God owns all the things. I just manage what He entrusts to me.
-
- Heaven is my home. We are citizens of "a better country – a heavenly one." Hebrews 1:16
- I should live today not for the dot, but for the line. Imagine drawing a horizontal line across a sheet of paper. Now put a dot somewhere on the line. That dot represents your place in eternity. Are you living for your tiny moment in time, or are you living with an eternal perspective?
- Giving is the only antidote to materialism. Giving is a joyful surrender to a greater Person and a greater agenda. It dethrones me and exalts Him.
- God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving. God gives us more money than we need so we can give generously.
