There is a great need in Christianity today to address the other side of the Christian experience. If one were to believe many TV evangelists, the Christian experience is one of health, wealth, and prosperity. Yet, the Biblical testimony from Job to Jesus is quite the opposite. Job, who definitely experienced his fair share of troubles, said, “Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble” (14:1). Jesus agreed in John 16:33, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Everyone has faced, or will face, a time when our world caves in. What do we do? In Genesis 39 Joseph’s world collapsed twice. Just like Joseph, when your world caves in, perseverance is needed.
- Pressure of your world collapsing.
- Perseverance when your world collapses.
When your world caves in, that is the time for the presence of God to be felt by you and seen in you.
