Just like you will see a sign "PROCEED WITH CAUTION" at road construction sites, so the Apostle Paul closed out this section on spiritual gifts with the admonition to "PROCEED WITH LOVE." For two-plus chapters, Paul had been building the way for these believers to exercise their giftedness appropriately. Over and over he emphasized the truth that it is not what you do that matters, but how you do it - in love. After all of the preparation, the Apostle gave the believers the green light to practice spiritual gifts - proceed with love. There are three results of pursuing love when it comes to spiritual gifts.
1. Loves' requirement for spiritual gifts, v. 26
2. Love's limitations for spiritual gifts, vv. 27-35
3. Love's response to spiritual gifts, vv. 36-40
Scriptures:
1 Corinthians 14:26-40
Galatians 3:28
1 Timothy 2:11-12
1 Samuel 15:22
Once again, it is not what you do that is of prime importance, but rather how you do it - in love.
