Marriage is a wonderful institution. It was established by God as a blessing to humanity. But what about those whom God called to singleness? I am afraid that many times in the church they are treated like second-class citizens in the Kingdom of God.
In today's passage, the apostle Paul offered some inspired advice (v. 25) that indicated there are times when the single state is actually to be preferred over marriage. Regardless, there are three considerations each person should make before they marry.
- Personal consideration:
Is marriage right for me at this time?
- Spiritual consideration:
Will marriage help or hinder my service for Christ?
- Natural consideration:
Am I able to keep my desires in check to lead a single life?
Scripture:
1 Corinthians 7:25-40
James 4:14
Romans 16:3-4
Philemon 1:1-2
If you are already married, there is one crucial truth-marriage is right for you! If you are not married, consider these three questions before you marry.
