Life Skills Ministries
Life often produces overwhelming challenges for which we are not prepared. The Life Skills Ministry of River Cities Church desires to equip people to grow through life's challenges. We approach problem solving relying on the truth of Scripture and the empowerment of God's Holy Spirit. We seek to equip people through one-on-one mentoring and coaching, support groups, as well as classes on particular topics. The Life Skills Ministry networks with healthcare providers as needed. Please see our Small Groups section to register for a group; or call the church office to set up an appointment with our Life Skills Director, Beth Calvert.
Groups offered at various times throughout the year include:
DivorceCare will help you face the challenges of the painful and stressful experiences of divorce. This support group, offered annually, will help you look forward to rebuilding your life. DivorceCare 4 Kids runs concurrently with DivorceCare and is open to 1st - 6th graders using Bible stories and video vignettes. There is time for discussion and other activities to communicate the message for children going through the divorce of their parents.
Financial Peace University is particularly useful, considering the downward spiral of these economic times, to help you get a handle on your personal finances. This superb class offered will help you gain skills for better managing what God has provided.
The Legacy Journey is the latest course by Dave Ramsey. It builds on the principles taught in FPU by teaching you safe investing, estate planning, and purposeful living. You will learn a biblical framework for living intentionally now so that later you’ll be able to leave a legacy that will secure your family’s future and make a lasting impact on the world around you.
Losing to Live is a support group offering information, encouragement, and accountability to help you reach your health goals. Texts will vary according to the needs of the group attending.
READY TO WED? is a class available for "soon-to-be" and "newly married" couples that will give biblical principles and practical help for starting your marriage out right.
GriefShare is a video driven support group that provides encouragement and help as you travel the road of grief. The workbook includes outlines of video material, devotionals, and suggested resource material in conjunction with the topic.
