The transition from a home support system to college can be difficult. RC3 College Life is here to help make that transition easier by offering social, academic, and spiritual support.
TheAdopt a College Student program will kick-off with a Sunday lunch on September 25th. The church will provide lunch after the 11:15 AM service so students and host parents can mix, mingle, and fill out a brief questionnaire about themselves. The following Sunday, everyone will find out who they’ve been matched with and the host parents will take their students out for lunch. Host families will offer a home away from home to their adoptive student by sending them a note of encouragement and praying for their big projects, exams, or other prayer needs. Host parents will also invite their student into their home (for a meal, family game night, to do laundry, etc.) or take them out for a meal a few times during the year. If they want to include them in special family or church events (asking them to join them at church dinners or to serving alongside them in their area ministry) that would be great too. Host parents will also be invited to bring a snack to the Cru weekly meeting when Pastor Larry speaks, or to FCA, or other ministry meetings on campus.
Throughout the year College Life will host picnics, tailgating, day trips, dinners, discussion groups, etc. Students will also be invited to make a difference in their community and the world by working with their host families on mission endeavors (e.g. helping WV flood victims, putting together Christmas gifts for needy children, etc.).
